Aug. 16 - Sept. 30th, 2019
Over 85% of the fruit for our 2019 Merlot came from Lodi. The remainder came from certified sustainable vineyards within the Northern Interior Valley.
We harvested our 2019 Merlot between August 16th and September 30th with an average Brix of 24.8. After 6-9 days of fermentation on the skins, the resulting wine was pressed and finished fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine was then aged on new and used French Oak for 6 months. In 2019 this wine is predominantly Merlot with Petit Verdot, Teroldego and Petite Sirah blended in for texture and color.
The 2019 McManis Family Vineyards' Merlot is medium-ruby in color and abundantly fruit-forward. The wine opens with notes of blackberry, vanilla cream, and baking spices and leads into a mid-palate dominated by black fruit, closing with a pleasing, toasty finish.
