Production Notes
The grapes for our 2018 Petite Sirah were harvested during Sept. and October 2018, with an average Brix of 26.2. After fermenting on the skins for 6-9 days, the must was pressed and the resulting wine finished fermentation in Stainless Steel tanks. The wine then was aged on a combination of new and used French and American oak.
Winemaker Notes
The 2018 offering of Petite Sirah from McManis Family Vineyards is vivid purple in color, with aromas of full toned Blackberry and Boysenberry. Caramel and Toffee are evident in the bouquet, as well as a Chocolate oak profile. The wine is substantial, yet has a rich soft cream texture of mocha. Very elegant and full of ripe black fruit flavors of Blackberry and Blueberry. These fruit flavors are savored in the lingering mouthwatering finish.
Our blend for the 2018 Petite Sirah is 80% Petite Sirah and 20% Tannat!

I first tasted this wine in Halifax, Nova Scotia at a fine Italian restaurant. On my way back home to Saint John, New Brunswick, I searched high and low but it was no where to be found in my province. Later that year I was happy to find it twice, in St. John's Newfoundland in a tiny liquor store then in New York City in a very high end liquor store. I'm so happy to report it is now available in Saint John, NB and I can buy it whenever I want! Of course, this makes me very happy. It's my favourite red yet!

Tried this wine at a local restaurant. We were literally stunned by the bold yet biddable dovetailing this wine had to offer. I will need to try another before I can draw any conclusion....perhaps MANY more.

I tried the 2014 Petite Sirah two weeks ago while it was on sale at our local Krogers, took it home that night and had it with Golden oak Shitake mushrooms. Delicious! went back the next day and bought the other 9 bottles. Tonight I am trying the 2015 vintage and I must say it has a lot of potential, thou youthful it has character of southern Rhone with soft oak in the background I will try it again tomorrow night with different foods, Pretty sure I'm going to empty the shelves and let age a year or two. Love your wines McManis

My manager gave me a bottle of the Petite Sirah for Christmas and I can not stop raving about it. The first sip was such a pleasant surprise to my pallet. The perfect blend of fruit with just the right amount of oak flavor. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

Bought @ State Liquor store with no previous knowledge of the wine. Opened a few weeks later & was amazed by its deep, rich flavor. Just went back & bought 4 more bottles. One of the best American red wines I have experienced!

What an incredible wine! Full-bodied, complex, smooth, and dry. Notes of blackfruit, creamy caramel, dark chocolate, and oak. I also noticed an earthiness and light taste of rubber, which is uncharacteristic of Sirah but made it more interesting to drink. I found it very easy to pair with most foods - particularly salty fatty meats (try with charcuterie and you won't be disappointed).

I've tried several wines from the McManis Family Vineyard (Cab Sauv, Viognier, Chardonay, Petit Sirah) and I have to say this one is my absolute favourite! (Although I would probably rate them all 10/10)! I live in Southern Ontario and I wish this wine was more readily available by the bottle. Lately I've been buying it by the case from wholesalers.

By far my favourite wine. I love the big, bold reds from Italy which usually range in price from $35-$60 Canadian per bottle, but the Petite Syrah is the best in it's price range. I first tried it several years ago at a nice steak house in Southern Ontario and was instantly hooked but dismayed to learn the LCBO does not sell this varietal (although other McManis products are on the shelf) so I've had to resort to buying by the case from an agent in Toronto

Best wine ever. Unfortunately we have to pay 20 USD for one bottle in Norway, cause to the taxes, but it’s worth it..😘

I first tasted this wine in the US while on business travel. I later had the same wine in a great restaurant in St-Sauveur, Quebec. I searched on the web after finding out it is not available in Quebec via SAQ but found an importer from who I've been buying the wine for a number of years. It's most definitely my favourite red wine yet!
